Scott Greeson
Singer-songwriter / Recording Artist / Entertainer
Singer-songwriter and recording artist Scott Greeson is a favorite on many stages. His warm and engaging musical style draws his audiences in, hooking them with lyric-based originals, enchanting instrumentals, and a deep well of familiar cover songs. Greeson can morph his vocal stylings at the drop of a hat with his interpretations of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard or Dwight Yoakam to capture a crowd.
His musical fluidly crosses genres from singer-songwriter and Americana to country and classic rock.
Greeson tours across the state with his band for festivals and other major events. He has frequently been booked to play the VIP stage at Ruhoff Home Mortgage Music Center in Indianapolis, Indiana prior to acts such as Zac Brown, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, and Brad Paisley.
His wife is fellow singer-songwriter and recording artist Vickie Maris. She is next to him in the band, singing harmony and lead vocals, in addition to playing rhythm guitar and accordion. Likewise, Scott accompanies Vickie on rhythm guitar in her band.
Scott Greeson's albums include Hoosier Surf, The Proving Grounds, and Riverside. He also collaborated with guitarist Kevin Ludwig to write and record the instrumental album, Wabash Gypsies. Maris accompanies them on accordion on one of the tracks.
Most recently, Greeson has been co-writing with Malachi Jaggers as well as with Maris. Greeson and Jaggers have gotten several co-writes as far as the "in consideration for a Grammy" phase of the Grammy Awards presented by the Recording Academy.
Maris and Greeson often collaborate with award-winning, internationally-acclaimed guitarist Michael Kelsey, who is the other half of the name, Kelsey Greeson Project. Rounding out the Kelsey Greeson Project is their good friend, Emmy-nominated Courtney Von Drehle. He is a music arranger, educator and co-founder of the band 3 Leg Torso.
A community-service focused individual, Greeson is co-founder of the Songwriters Association of Mid-North Indiana (SAMI). He is passionate about cultivating young musicians, recording artists, and producers. Through SAMI, he co-founded the Shirley Martin Scholarship for Young Songwriters, which is now in its 26th year. The program has mentored over 300 young musicians and distributed approximately $27,000 in member-funded dollars to young artists. Greeson also coaches young guitarists, songwriters, and teaches in the After School Arts Program in his community.
In 2019, Greeson and SAMI were awarded a $94,000 grant from North Central Health Services (NCHS) to help build a world-class recording studio. The team brought the project together during the pandemic. That studio, REC Room Recording, is now housed in The Arts Federation in Lafayette, Indiana. REC Room serves the community with training, resources and streaming services for community arts, university functions and private organizations.
In another project, Greeson is a co-host with Vickie Maris and Michael Kelsey on the podcast, Making of the Album – Another Universe. The three gathered around the mics in Kelsey’s studio to banter about the behind the scenes of the writing and recording of each of Maris’ songs on the project.
Greeson’s music and podcast episodes are available in Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and many other streaming services.
